Fees

While most clients choose to be billed using regular hourly rates, TMT Law understands that entrepreneurs often need more flexibility. We are therefore open to alternative billing arrangements.

STEP 1

Meeting to discuss your legal needs.

This meeting can be held in person or by phone. Please make sure to bring the most relevant documents (e.g. key contracts, relevant correspondence, etc) and two forms of valid government-issued picture ID (e.g. passport, driver’s license).

STEP 2

Early file assessment.

At this stage, we will review the relevant documents and the relevant law to assess your legal needs. This is a very important step. It allows us to begin formulating an effective strategy to resolve your problem and enables us to begin the process of setting your reasonable expectations. You decide whether our early case assessment is done on a flat fee or hourly-billing basis.

STEP 3

We agree to a pricing model that suits you.

We recognize that different clients prefer different billing arrangements. After consultation, we enter into an arrangement that is tailored to each client. Depending on the situation, this can include:

1HOURLY RATES

Traditional hourly rates.

2FLAT FEES

For most projects, we can quote you a fixed price service and stick to it.

3CONTINGENCY

In some circumstances, we can get paid a percentage of any amount recovered or paid to the client. That means we only get paid when our clients do.

4PRE-PACKAGED FEES

TMT Law offers pre-packaged fees to small and medium sized businesses, including General Counsel Services packages. These businesses are typically too small to hire a full time lawyer but need on-site access to a lawyer who knows their business.

5CUSTOMIZED ARRANGEMENTS

TMT Law is also open to other billing arrangements, subject to Law Society of Upper Canada requirements.
